Alex Curtis

Alex is a senior commercial property solicitor with over 20 years’ post qualification experience.

Alex qualified in 1999 and has worked at large national and international firms, including Gowling, Irwin Mitchell and Freeths. He has experience in a wide range of commercial property areas, but with particular expertise in landlord and tenant, renewable energy and sales and acquisitions. He has regularly acted for FTSE 100 - 350 client occupiers in the industrial and retail sectors on a full spectrum of leasehold portfolio work, as well as investment funds in the site assembly, refinancing and disposal of large ground mounted commercial solar farms. 

For me, acting for clients means understanding their business aims and giving pragmatic, real-world advice to help achieve them. I recognise the commercial realities in which clients operate and see my role as guiding them through what can be a complex legal environment within their timescale and budget. I enjoy working with clients ranging from large multinationals to business start-ups and everyone in between.

Work Highlights:

• Acting for a large logistics business in the new build acquisition of its largest warehouse at Corby (844,000 sq ft) at an annual rent of £4m plus.
• Acting for large logistics business and its joint venture partner in various sub-sale and leaseback transactions for sums ranging from £5m- £20m with annual rents at £1m- £3m.
• Acting for a clothing brand in various transactions, from new build developments to  lease renewals at annual rents of up to £1m.
• Acting for a large logistics business in a complex development and leasehold land swap at Carlisle Airport.
• Acting for a solar energy provider in the site assembly and development of various large ground mounted commercial solar farms, including its 50MW site at Eveley.

Alex lives in Birmingham with his wife, two teenage daughters and their labrador, Roland. He really enjoys spending time with his family, going on walks with the dog and playing guitar.
