Becky is a highly experienced data protection solicitor who qualified in 2002. She helps growth-focused businesses navigate data protection law with confidence, turning compliance from a burden into a genuine competitive advantage. Becky understands both the legal requirements and the real-world pressures her clients face, building privacy compliance programmes that are commercially fit for purpose.
Her work includes:
- Handling complex, high-risk data protection matters, such as complex DSARs, data breaches, ICO engagement and post-incident remediation;
- Leading end-to-end GDPR compliance programmes, from initial gap analysis and remediation through to ongoing strategic support;
- Advising on emerging technology and AI;
- Acting as a fractional or outsourced DPO;
- Supporting transactions and commercial projects, including data protection due diligence for M&A and investment activity, as well as negotiating data processing arrangements and international transfer safeguards.
Becky brings a particular insight from her time in in-house roles. Before joining Harper James, she acted as a senior in-house legal adviser across construction, oil and gas, government and recruitment, working with organisations ranging from fast-growing enterprises to large multinationals. She also served as DPO for iSupply Energy prior to its sale to EDF. Becky works with ambitious, fast-growing businesses across a range of sectors.

Becky lives on the South Coast with her family and is an enthusiastic stand-up paddleboarder and cold-water swimmer. She also enjoys travel and cooking.
