Ella is a highly experienced employment solicitor, who qualified in 2007. She helps businesses manage employment issues with confidence, providing practical and commercially focused advice throughout the employment relationship – from recruitment and day-to-day people management to restructures, senior exits and Employment Tribunal claims.
Before joining Harper James, Ella worked at leading West Midlands law firm Shakespeares (now known as Shakespeare Martineau). She has advised businesses ranging from start-ups to large national and multinational organisations, giving her a strong understanding of the different employment challenges businesses face as they grow and evolve.
Ella advises on a wide range of employment matters, including recruitment, employment contracts and policies, disciplinary and grievance issues, discrimination, sickness absence, restructures, redundancies, senior employee exits, Settlement Agreements, TUPE, IR35, Data Subject Access Requests, Modern Slavery Act compliance and Employment Tribunal claims.
Ella works closely with employers to find solutions that balance legal risk with wider commercial and people considerations. Whether supporting a business through a sensitive employee issue or a significant organisational change, her focus is on providing clear advice that clients can put into practice.
She has particular experience working with businesses across logistics, manufacturing, hospitality, finance, retail and care, advising organisations on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
Outside of work, Ella enjoys skiing and spending time on the coast with her family.
