James is a commercial property disputes lawyer who helps businesses resolve property issues efficiently and, wherever possible, without the cost and disruption of litigation.
He qualified as a solicitor in 2012 and has spent most of his career specialising in property disputes. Before joining Harper James, he was Head of Property Litigation at top 100 law firm Hugh James.
James advises on:
- commercial landlord and tenant disputes
- boundary disputes
- rights of way and other property rights
- disputes involving the ownership and use of land
- specialist property issues, including ownership of subterranean minerals
He has acted for a broad range of clients, including commercial landlords and tenants, national housebuilders and banks.
James combines a detailed understanding of property law with a strong awareness of the commercial context in which disputes arise. He focuses on what the client ultimately needs to achieve, considering the practical and financial implications alongside the legal position.
Where possible, James works with clients to resolve issues before they develop into formal proceedings. When litigation is necessary, his experience enables him to identify the key issues quickly and develop a strategy focused on achieving the best commercial outcome.
