Nikki joined Harper James in November 2022 as a senior corporate solicitor. She was promoted to corporate partner in November 2023.
She is a specialist M&A lawyer and has a wide range and depth of experience working with her clients on a variety of corporate transactions including; company and business sales and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity investments, management buy-outs and buy-ins (in all the differing combinations), group reorganisations, and share restructures, shareholder exits including Employee Ownership Trusts (EOTs) and EMI share schemes.
When asked what clients value most about working with her, Nikki said:
My clients often say that they know I genuinely care about them. I’ve always got their back and I will do what I can to get the job done. My approach is open and collaborative and whilst I’m focused on delivering excellent quality legal advice, I also enjoy building great day-to-day relationships with my clients and their teams.
Nikki also helps clients with shareholder agreements, cross-option arrangements, company share buy-backs and general corporate governance matters.
She has worked with entrepreneurs of start-up businesses to sophisticated corporate investment firms and has broad sector interests with extensive experience of working with clients in tech, green energy, waste recycling, food and drink, veterinary and healthcare sectors.
Nikki qualified as a corporate solicitor in 2014 with Birketts and then joined Mills & Reeve as a Senior Associate in 2018, both well-ranked Top 100 law firms.
Prior to her career as a lawyer, Nikki enjoyed a successful career in Marketing, working for Aviva for 12 years in various commercial and relationship management roles. This ‘client side’ experience means that Nikki truly understands her client's business realities and enables her to provide solution-driven and commercially considered advice.
Nikki is a huge pescatarian foodie, so she spends her time outside of work eating all the amazing food Cornwall has to offer and then attempting to burn it off through trail running and exercising her less greedy Eurasier (dog).
The Legal 500 Directory has referred to Nikki as ‘a real asset to the firm-excellent to work with, efficient and knowledgeable'.
Once more, many thanks for your help & support – if ever you need an old client as an advocate as to how you helped, we’d be happy to sing out loud & clear.
Robert Livie, Project Sapphire
