Senior Commercial Solicitor

Get in touch

Rebecca is a Commercial and Technology lawyer with nearly two decades of experience advising on commercial, technology and data matters. Her diverse clientele ranges from start-ups to established businesses to national and global brands, as well as the UK Government, spanning various sectors such as technology, digital, professional services, retail, automotive and manufacturing. With her extensive expertise, she adeptly guides organisations through complex legal challenges, tailoring her approach to meet their unique needs.

Since qualifying as a solicitor in 2007, she has gained diverse experience working for a regional law firm in Norwich and a national law firm in Birmingham, before moving to London where she worked for 12 years, first for a major global law firm and later transitioning to a specialist technology and life sciences practice.

Rebecca has considerable experience working in-house, having completed lengthy secondments at a major UK automotive brand and manufacturer, a major UK retail group, the UK Government, a high street supermarket group, a top-tier global IT supplier, and a global advisory firm.

Over the years I have been fortunate to work for different types of law firms, allowing me to collaborate with a wide range of clients across diverse sectors on various matters. This exposure provided first-hand experience of different styles and approaches, enabling me to understand what works and what doesn’t.

This variety of work, which I truly love (no two arrangements are ever the same, no matter what anyone tells you!), has not only broadened my experience and skills but also enhanced my ability to quickly identify the key issues when assisting clients.

As a result, I can meaningfully advise clients on relevant issues in a pragmatic manner that meets their individual needs. Whether it’s providing bullet points on issues to discuss with a supplier or customer, a full or key issues markup of an agreement, preparing a tender pack or response, or drafting a risk paper for the Board, I adapt my approach to the specific client and situation.

Rebecca’s breadth of experience enables her to advise clients at every stage of their journey. Whether developing a new product or service, launching it into the market, conducting business online, maintaining a steady state, or facilitating a sale or exit, she provides comprehensive guidance. Rebecca is equally adept at advising on 'business as usual' matters, such as terms of business, SaaS and other cloud arrangements, and services agreements, as she is on strategic projects like outsourcings, significant IT or digital procurements/restructurings, and commercial partnerships.  Rebecca possesses the ability to appreciate and work within the bigger picture, anticipating her clients’ future needs.  Rebecca’s core activities routinely involve analysing and explaining issues, rules, and documents for clients, drafting documents and negotiating terms. She is also experienced in managing projects from inception to completion.

The most enjoyable aspect of my work is getting to know my clients and their businesses – building a strong relationship with them. This approach enables me to bring legal issues to life, advise them most effectively and help them achieve their goals. It is immensely rewarding to see the positive impact that my guidance and support can have on clients!

Rebecca lives in Essex with her husband and young daughter.  She is a keen scuba diver who enjoys travelling and literature and has recently embraced Pilates.
