Japneet is a commercial disputes solicitor supporting the business disputes team with the preparation, management and conduct of court proceedings. She works across a broad range of disputes, navigating complex issues and progressing matters efficiently towards resolution.
Her experience spans all stages of the dispute process, from initial case assessment and pre-action correspondence through to court proceedings, mediation and settlement. She works on contractual and corporate disputes, shareholder claims, and fraud and asset recovery, as well as disputes arising within specialised commercial relationships.
Before joining Harper James, Japneet gained substantial experience at leading London disputes practices, working on high-value litigation and international arbitration. Her work often involved technical factual and legal issues and parties across multiple jurisdictions.
Work highlights include:
- Acting for international airlines in High Court proceedings concerning aircraft leasing arrangements and the fraudulent transfer of aircraft.
- Acting for a group of international shareholders in relation to breaches of directors’ duties and the future management of the company.
- Representing an organisation in a USD 4bn ICC arbitration concerning the construction of a major hospital in Qatar.
- Representing a group of institutional shareholders in a high-profile GBP 4bn class action against a bank, arising out of alleged misstatements made to investors in connection with a rights issue.
- Representing a Middle Eastern steel manufacturer in a USD 500m ICC arbitration arising from the termination of related agreements.
