Harper James Solicitors has been named as one of the UK’s best start-ups in The Startups 100 index 2020, the trusted annual table of new businesses to watch, compiled by Startups.co.uk. Ranked at number 43 and the only law firm to make the list, our inclusion in the top 50 of this year’s Startups 100 is testament to how we are disrupting the legal sector with our innovative remote-operating model and service packages.
We are thrilled to be in such distinguished company on a list that includes start-up car dealer Cazoo – who recently reached unicorn status in record time – and online homewares marketplace Trouva. As the law firm of choice for UK start-ups, it’s not surprising to see two of our own clients also made the list – leading speech-to-text platform Trint is ranked 10th, while workplace feedback platform Howamigoing climbed 40 places since last year to reach number 21 in 2020.
Our founder Toby Harper said of gaining the Startups 100 recognition:
‘It’s a real honour for us to gain UK-wide recognition from the start-up community. Startups.co.uk has been compiling this who’s who of the start-up world for a number of years, and to be featured on a list that’s counted Deliveroo and Monzo among its alumni means the world to me and our team. I always operated with the belief that our business model of remote-working solicitors, competitive hourly rates and subscription pricing plans would stand us apart in the marketplace and appeal to similarly ambitious businesses, and this recognition is proof of that.’
Partner Ashley Mott commented:
‘At Harper James, we do law differently. We’re a business designed to support start-ups and that’s what sets us apart from traditional law firms. Our clients appreciate the way we operate and how it gives them partner-level advice at a fraction of the cost of traditional ‘bricks and mortar’ law firms, and our inclusion in the Startups 100 index shows that word is spreading fast about our unique service. I am delighted for our team to have received this accolade, which recognises the hard work all parts of the business put into providing our clients with quality and affordable legal support.’
The Startups 100 is the longest running annual index of the best and brightest new businesses in the UK, judged by Startups.co.uk. Using financial performance, funding raised, founder profile and strength of concept to score the competition’s hundreds of applicants, the final list that’s published annually ranks the British start-ups most likely to go the distance.
