Michelle is a highly experienced commercial property solicitor, who qualified in 2007. She helps businesses navigate property transactions with practical, commercially focused advice, supporting them through everything from acquisitions and disposals to complex development and financing arrangements.
Her work spans acquisitions and disposals, portfolio management, business tenancies and pre-lets, mixed-use development schemes, option and overage agreements, asset management, property finance and property management.
Michelle has particular expertise in real estate finance and corporate support work, working alongside corporate teams on company and business acquisitions and sales. She advises clients ranging from private individuals and growing businesses to major PLCs and multinational organisations, giving her a strong understanding of the different commercial pressures businesses face.
Work highlights include:
- advising a private lender on investment and development finance transactions with lending values of up to £70 million, including due diligence, reports and certificates of title, valuation reports, facility agreements, debentures and deeds of priority.
- acting for an institutional bank on the refinancing of a range of commercial and mixed-use properties.
- advising a travel company on the lease of its flagship London office, with an annual rent of more than £300,000.
- managing a nationwide property portfolio for a large restaurant chain, advising on acquisitions, development agreements, re-gears, surrenders, lease renewals and licences.
- supporting a major US sportswear retailer with the acquisition of new UK retail units, including agreements for lease, leases and associated documentation.
- acting on the £600 million acquisition of 129 petrol stations by a major supermarket chain.
- advising the administrators of a large international fitness club chain on pre-pack transactions, licences and surrenders of leased premises.
- helping an international engineering services organisation reduce its property footprint through an underlease.
Michelle lives with her family and has three boys, which means plenty of time spent on the side of a football pitch. She also enjoys running, travelling and renovating her home.
"I enjoy getting to know my clients and understanding how their businesses operate. Having worked with organisations of all sizes and across different sectors, I understand that every client has different commercial priorities. I aim to be approachable, responsive and practical, providing legal advice that works for the business as well as the transaction."
