Harper James and Aeristech Limited
Aeristech

Harper James Solicitors have been providing dedicated support and guidance to our longstanding client Aeristech Limited since 2014.

Established in 2006, Aeristech’s mission is to develop fully electric turbocharger technology. Driven by the global need to reduce emissions, Aeristech has developed an electric supercharger which enables engine manufacturers to develop well-tuned and driveable engines with higher levels of engine downsizing and increased CO2 savings relative to other technologies.

In collaboration with MAHLE Powertrain UK, the company has developed a powertrain, featuring Aeristech’s 48V electric supercharger, capable of powering a large family car and believed to be the highest specific power output ever seen from a production engine.

Harper James Solicitors has assisted Aeristech in a number of areas, including:

  • Advising on commercial transactions, such as buying or selling assets, protecting business interests or obtaining financing. We have supported the company through four planned fundraising rounds, each of which has been successful and together have generated over £5 million, reflecting the increased value of the business and confidence in its future plans.
  • Drafting, negotiating and concluding Aeristech’s commercial agreements (some with international aspects) – such as Confidentiality, NDA and Consultancy agreements.
  • Developing a patent and Intellectual Property strategy, ensuring that the company’s filing of patents and other Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) is strategically aligned to its commercial focus. We have guided Aeristech’s understanding of the legal scope and commercial value of existing patents, so they’re able to identify other potential IPRs and take steps to protect them. We’ve also helped them put a plan in place to take early action to register and exploit IPRs in key international commercial territories, while monitoring competitor activity or competing applications that may infringe existing IPRs or impact Aeristech’s pending and future applications or commercial opportunities.
  • Providing commercial and practical legal advice to resolve business related disputes, including employment matters.

Our CEO Toby Harper said: “At Harper James, we always strive to provide clients with first class support, whatever the client size or issue, and we’re proud to have contributed to the ongoing success of Aeristech.”

Richard Wall, Chief Executive of Aeristech Ltd, said: “Having worked with various members of the team at Harper James, I am constantly impressed by their professionalism and the speed at which they respond and get the job done. Their approach is proactive and commercial, and I have total confidence that their level of legal knowledge is second to none.

“Harper James have taken the time to understand our Company and its needs, making us believe our business is important to them. I would not hesitate in recommending them to other firms operating in the advanced research and manufacturing sectors.”
