We’re proud to share that we’ve achieved another year of strong, organic growth – with revenue up by 25% to £15.2 million in our last financial year.
For us, these results aren’t just about financial performance.
They’re about the growing number of businesses choosing accessible, high-quality legal support, and our fantastic team, who make that possible every day. We believe that when we make expert legal support accessible and practical for ambitious businesses, everyone benefits – our clients, our people and the wider SME community.
This growth keeps us firmly on track to reach our £30 million target by 2028 and gives us the opportunity to keep investing in the things that matter most: our clients, our people, and the innovation that connects them.
Recognition for doing things differently
This year, we were proud to be recognised by Chambers and Partners’ UK 2026 guide, achieving a Band 1 ranking in its new SME-focused category. The guide commended us for “opening up access to legal support for small to medium-sized businesses through flexible and subscription-based pricing.”
It’s a great endorsement of our model – a law firm purpose-built to help growth-focused businesses succeed.
Building on a year of momentum
In June, we announced a major milestone in our journey, with investment from LDC, the leading private equity investor, which is part of Lloyds Banking Group.
LDC’s backing allows us to accelerate development of our proprietary technology, expand our team of senior lawyers, and broaden the services we offer. Chris Handy and Karen Mann from LDC have joined our board as non-executive directors, alongside Steve Weller as non-executive chair – strengthening our leadership for the next phase of growth.
Investing in innovation and collaboration
Through our Innovate UK-funded Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with Aston University, we’re developing an Intelligent Legal Services Platform – a system that uses AI to modernise core processes, improve collaboration and enhance the client experience.
We’re also building a client portal to make it easier for businesses to access documents, track progress in real time and collaborate with their legal team.
A growing community
We’ve now supported over 7,000 businesses at every stage of their journey – from first-time founders and start-ups to scaling and established enterprises. Their trust fuels our success and inspires us to keep improving.
As our founder and CEO, Toby Harper, puts it:
This year’s growth proves what’s possible when you combine an exceptional team with a clear purpose. We’ve always done things differently - challenging the traditional legal model to make expert advice genuinely accessible to growing businesses. With LDC’s backing, we’re looking ahead with confidence and conviction, focused on building lasting relationships, driving innovation and continuing to deliver the kind of legal services growing businesses truly need.
Speaking about the results, Chris Handy, Partner and Head of the West Midlands at LDC, said:
Harper James has delivered an outstanding year of growth, driven by its impressive team and excellent client service. Its innovative and flexible approach is highly valued by clients, and we’re excited to support Toby and his ambitious team as they continue to differentiate themselves and lead the way in the legal sector.
Looking ahead
Eleven years on from when we first started, our mission remains the same: to redefine legal services so that ambitious businesses – and the people behind them – can thrive.
