Adam Khattak

Adam qualified as a solicitor in July 2023 and advises on a range of commercial and technology matters. 

My interest in law was sparked during my A-levels while studying political philosophy. I joined Harper James in September 2019 as a Legal Assistant. On my first day, I arrived in a full suit and tie, only to be told to "ditch the suit and tie." This moment perfectly encapsulated Harper James's refreshingly modern approach to law. 

My training contract, which began in January 2021, provided exposure to various practice areas and solicitors, helping me develop a well-rounded perspective on clients' needs and experience in different areas of the law. This experience also helped me to decide the area of law that interests me the most: commercial law.  

Since qualifying into the Commercial team in July 2023, I've been managing my own cases independently, with access to experienced colleagues for guidance and support whenever needed. A career highlight was closing a €1m marketing services deal within my first six months as a solicitor, which demonstrates the value and trust Harper James places in its junior lawyers – with appropriate supervision and support, of course. 

Although he's in the early stages of his career, Adam has already developed expertise in advising SaaS (software-as-a-service) vendors in the technology sector and agencies in the creative industries. His experience in the firm's corporate, intellectual property, and employment teams enables him to view a business from a holistic perspective. 

I believe that understanding the day-to-day role of a solicitor across various practice areas is crucial. My diverse experience allows me to tailor my approach to what each client needs, whether they're a start-up, scale-up, or established business. 

One of the aspects I enjoy most about my work is the opportunity to work with a variety of clients and industries. Each presents unique challenges and learning opportunities, which I find incredibly rewarding. 

Adam is committed to maintaining a good work-life balance. Outside the office, he is engaged in all things music, including playing guitar and attending gigs and festivals. He has recently started experimenting with a midi keyboard. Adam also enjoys a good TV series and is a keen reader.
