Alex is a commercial property solicitor with more than 20 years’ post-qualification experience advising businesses on property transactions, portfolio management and development projects.
He qualified as a solicitor in 1999 and has worked at national and international law firms including Gowling, Irwin Mitchell and Freeths. His work spans a broad range of commercial property matters, with a strong focus on landlord and tenant work, renewable energy projects, and property sales and acquisitions.

He has regularly acted for FTSE 100-350 occupiers in the industrial and retail sectors on the full range of leasehold portfolio work. He has also advised investment funds on the site assembly, refinancing and disposal of large ground-mounted commercial solar farms.
Alex takes a pragmatic, commercial approach to his work. He focuses on understanding what the client is trying to achieve and guides them through the legal process in a way that reflects their timescale, budget and wider business priorities.
Work highlights include:
- Acting for a large logistics business on the new-build acquisition of an 844,000 sq. ft warehouse in Corby, with annual rent of more than £4 million.
- Advising a large logistics business and its joint venture partner on a series of sub-sale and leaseback transactions valued between £5 million and £20 million, with annual rents of £1 million to £3 million.
- Acting for a clothing brand on transactions ranging from new-build developments to lease renewals with annual rents of up to £1 million.
- Advising a large logistics business on a complex development and leasehold land swap at Carlisle Airport.
- Acting for a solar energy provider on the site assembly and development of several large ground-mounted commercial solar farms, including a 50MW site at Eveley.

Outside work, Alex lives in Birmingham with his wife, two teenage daughters and their Labrador, Roland. He enjoys spending time with his family, walking the dog and playing guitar.
