Liane Simmonds

Liane is a Senior Solicitor in the Dispute Resolution team with over 15 years’ litigation experience. Liane assists clients with commercial disputes and contentious insolvency matters.

Prior to joining Harper James, Liane gained a wealth of expertise at leading regional law firms and assisted a variety of clients in relation to a broad range of disputes. Her practice has included contractual disputes, insolvency litigation, complex debt recovery, company disputes and banking litigation.

I recognise that every client and every dispute is different. I pride myself on taking time to understand a client’s objectives in order to provide clear, pragmatic and commercial advice.

Liane is focused on achieving the best possible resolution for her clients in a cost effective and efficient manner, often exploring alternative dispute resolution methods where appropriate to secure the best outcome.

Notable highlights from her career include:

• Obtaining and enforcing summary judgment against a telecoms company for £1.9m in relation to a complex contractual dispute;

• Acting for a major high street bank in relation to customer claims involving account closures and APP fraud;

• Successfully defending an international client against breach of contract and intellectual property claims;

• Advising liquidators in respect of claims against directors for reviewable transactions and misfeasance.

Outside of work, Liane enjoys spending time with her young family and exploring the outdoors on long walks with her dog.
