Toby Harper, our founder and CEO, previously worked in-house for a well-known venture capital firm. During his time there, he saw first-hand the barriers growth businesses faced in accessing quality legal advice and decided something needed to be done.

Harper James is actively and positively disrupting how legal services are provided to businesses. The Netflix of the legal world, the firm’s innovative approach to delivering highly tailored and accessible legal advice is genuinely different to the establishment.

What you’ll do

This role requires you to have solid experience delivering on projects and managing the implementation and reporting of marketing tactics. You will be responsible for managing processes, projects and people within the marketing team, and progressing your marketing plans and objectives while proactively contributing to the budgets and assisting with resource planning.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Creating, implementing and evaluating marketing plans for specific areas of the business to cover the full range of relevant marketing tactics.
  • Developing content strategy for specific areas, identify key audiences, define messaging, support the production of content including PR, blogs, news, videos, podcasts etc.
  • Identify opportunities for allocated responsible areas by press scanning and monitoring relevant clients for content.
  • Work closely with the business development team on the allocated areas of business to support targeting prospects with a range of tactics.
  • Using analytics data to understand the effectiveness of our engagement, identify and introduce improvements.
  • Creating and managing virtual and potential in-person events for target audiences, sometimes in collaboration with partner organisations.
  • Deliver creative campaigns and novel forms of engagement e.g. polls, hero content etc.
  • Managing third party consultants and agencies including management of budgets.
  • Monitoring the overall competitive landscape and target markets to identify and secure new collaborations and partnerships.
  • Play a key role in leveraging the firm’s CRM system, HubSpot.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

You’ll ideally:

  • Have a well-established working knowledge of marketing fundamentals including planning and implementation. A professional marketing qualification at degree or post graduate level is ideal.
  • Have a good understanding of the tools used to implement and evaluate marketing campaigns, using a range of tactics across multiple platforms.
  • Have strong demonstrable experience of executing digital marketing campaigns, including implementing social media, paid search and retargeting techniques.
  • Have previous experience of working in an environment where your marketing activities are measured and for which you’re held to account.
  • Demonstrate and make full use of knowledge, experience, accuracy, and expertise in your area.
  • Be able to work with minimal supervision, ensuring high quality of work and service provided.
  • Progress issues proactively, meet deadlines and provide updates to colleagues where necessary.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively both verbally and in writing, both internally and externally.
  • Hold an interest in the wider activities of Harper James and demonstrate commercial awareness.
  • Effectively and constructively manage performance by giving timely and constructive feedback to encourage personal and career development of team members.
  • Be aware of your own strengths and development needs and seek out opportunities to build and address these.
  • Have experience of using of HubSpot (or a similar CRM system).
