Three Harper James clients listed in The Top 100 UK Startups

Across the UK, our legal support helps early stage businesses to grow, providing services and advice which enables them to fulfil their potential.

This week, three of our Enable clients have been featured in The Startups 100 2019 list by Startups.co.uk. Congratulations to Hostmaker, Howamigoing and Switchee for being recognised as some of the most successful and exciting UK businesses to have launched in the last five years.

The Startups 100 list highlights up-and-coming businesses who have the potential to make a significant impact on their industries. Across a wide variety of sectors, the winners have collectively raised finances of almost £1 billion, and have had a cumulative turnover of a quarter of a billion pounds in the last financial year.

Our client Hostmaker have come a long way since joining us in 2017. Their approach to the wildly successful world of on-demand property lettings allows homeowners to invite paying guests to stay in homes which often meet luxury hospitality standards thanks to their specialist interior design service. Hostmaker completed an £11m funding round in 2017, and their portfolio of 2,000 properties now stretches across nine different cities.

Howamigoing, a new solution to employee appraisals, was founded and joined the Harper James client base in 2018, and in that short space of time has already raised £1.1m in two funding rounds. Disrupting the HR Tech market with its psychology-based approach to performance management systems, Howamigoing are leading the way on a complete remodelling of appraisal practice, as reflected in their placement in the top 100 list.

Switchee, a smart thermostat for the affordable and social housing market, has also made the list. Their product uses modern technology and a B2B approach to save money for landlords and tenants across the UK. Joining us as a client in 2017, the company raised £1.3m in early funding last year and is now in the position to grow their share of the housing technology market.

Speaking about the announcement, Toby Harper, founder and CEO of Harper James, said: “It’s fantastic to see our clients receive recognition for their progress. Our services are designed to help support businesses who are looking to rapidly grow, and these results demonstrate their effectiveness.

“Hostmaker, Howamigoing and Switchee are all solidifying their status as disruptors within their industry, and we’re proud to be able to provide expert legal services that directly suit their need and enable their significant progress.”

Congratulations to all of our clients! If you are a new business wanting to expand or establish your position in your sector, get in touch for legal support and advice.
