Adam is a corporate lawyer with more than 20 years’ experience helping businesses plan for growth, secure investment, complete acquisitions and prepare for successful exits.
He advises founders, management teams and businesses on a wide range of strategic corporate matters, including:

Adam’s approach is practical, commercial and focused on what matters most to the business. He takes time to understand his clients, their objectives and the wider commercial context, helping them cut through unnecessary complexity and concentrate on the decisions that will have the greatest impact.
He also brings first-hand experience of building businesses himself. During a career break in New Zealand, Adam founded three businesses: a CrossFit gym, a sports clothing brand and a sports photography business.
That experience gives him a strong understanding of the pressures founders face beyond the legal issues alone. He uses that perspective to provide well-rounded advice, helping clients put the right structures in place, protect what they are building and prepare their businesses for growth, investment or sale.
Adam’s route into corporate law began while working as a legal accountant at the firm now known as DLA Piper. After spending time with its corporate team, he decided to retrain as a solicitor and qualified in 2003.
Adam joined Harper James as a Partner in 2018 and became Head of Corporate in 2022. In his role as Director of Legal Strategy and Operations and Head of Corporate, he also helps shape the firm’s legal strategy, operations and long-term direction.
Outside work, Adam is a keen CrossFit athlete and Olympic weightlifter. He has won gold medals in the Masters 73kg category at both the British Masters Weightlifting Championships and the English Weightlifting Championships and has ranked among the leading CrossFit athletes in his age group in the UK.
