Harper James is a national commercial law firm designed to support entrepreneurial businesses from start-up to exit. We aspire to disrupt the model for which legal services are provided to businesses. The firm’s innovative approach to delivering highly tailored and accessible legal advice is considered genuinely different to the establishment.

Harper James was founded in 2014 and continues to grow at c40%+ year on year.  Today we are more than 117 people, who will support more than 2500 businesses this financial year and will turnover around £13m. We expect to double in size over the next 3 years.

Our commercial team work remotely with the possibility of working from our offices in Birmingham and Sheffield if preferred. We are energetic, hardworking and collaborate effectively through frequent and regular touchpoints via Teams. We also meet up for in-person team days and social events in Birmingham at least quarterly.

We work really hard to ensure our lawyers feel part of a team so they can collaborate, share ideas and enjoy each other’s company even though we are all in different locations. Working remotely allows us to work from wherever we want, giving us great flexibility that is useful for all sorts of reasons. We want people to feel part of something big, and that their contribution is recognized both individually and as part of a team.

This opportunity is suited to an ambitious commercial lawyer, with great academics and a solid training foundation.

You will work with a diverse range of clients and industries, on a wide variety of commercial work, including drafting, reviewing and a broad spectrum of commercial and technology contracts. We help our clients with supply and distribution agreements, leading-edge technology agreements, and everything in between, which ensures that no two days at Harper James are the same.

Your client base will range from start ups at the very beginning of their life, through cutting edge SMEs, to larger businesses looking to gain great advice at sensible prices – and across multiple industry sectors.
