This is an exciting opportunity to work with a growing and diverse client base ranging from innovative start-ups to established national and international businesses, advising on a wide range of general commercial and commercial technology matters within a modern, tech-enabled law firm.

As a consultant within our flexible model, you will manage your own caseload while benefiting from the support, infrastructure, and collaborative culture of a forward-thinking national firm.

What you'll be doing

You will take the lead on a broad range of general commercial and commercial technology matters, supporting businesses with the drafting, negotiation and strategic management of their key commercial arrangements.

You will work closely with founders, in-house counsel, senior leadership teams and operational stakeholders, providing clear, pragmatic advice that supports commercial objectives while managing legal risk.

Your work is likely to include advising on matters such as:

As part of the wider Harper James legal team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across Corporate, Data Protection, Employment and Intellectual Property teams where commercial issues arise within transactions, investments, product launches or business expansion.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 8 years’ PQE with strong experience in general commercial and commercial technology work
  • Demonstrable experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial and technology agreements
  • Experience advising businesses in sectors such as technology, SaaS, digital, retail or professional services is advantageous
  • Ability to manage matters independently and deliver pragmatic, commercially focused advice
  • Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills
  • Confidence working with founders, senior leadership teams and in-house legal functions
