Liz Appleyard

Liz is a senor commercial solicitor with over 30 years’ experience working in private practice assisting clients trading both nationally and internationally, on a B2B and B2C basis, with an extensive range of commercial issues and agreements.

Having qualified as a solicitor in 1989, she's worked for Hewitsons, EMW and most recently Tollers – all law firms in the Northampton and Milton Keynes market.

Liz’s clients include HNWs, SMEs trading nationally and internationally, professional partnerships and charities.

Given the wide remit of ‘commercial contracts’, Liz has advised on a diverse range of standard and bespoke agreements during her career. Examples include:

• Trading Terms: advising a variety of businesses (including not for profit organisations) on commercial agreements, standard terms of trade, consultancy and services agreements, supply and manufacturing for a wide range of goods and services trading both nationally and internationally. Providing training to sales teams. 
• IT and e-commerce: drafting and, where appropriate, negotiating a wide range of agreements and standard terms and policies in this sector including website terms of use, policies for bulletin boards and forums, managed services agreement, website design and hosting agreements, software licence agreements for both off the shelf and bespoke packages, support and maintenance agreements. 
• Agency and Distribution: extensive experience of agency and distribution agreements both nationally and internationally including the management of major distribution networks across the globe and the rights of agents on termination of their appointments under The Commercial Agents (Council Directive) Regulations. 
• Franchising: Acting for both franchisors and franchisees. Work for franchisors includes drafting franchise agreements and advising businesses considering adopting a franchise model; managing networks both in the UK and internationally; advising franchisors in relation to IP matters. 
• Competitions: drafting rules and advising on running competitions using social media platforms including an individual using a competition to dispose of his house. 

Outside of work Liz enjoys gardening, the theatre, cooking and (as a result of 2 grown up sons) is probably not the usual subscriber to La Liga TV.
