Get in touch

Charlotte is an experienced dispute resolution lawyer who joined Harper James in May 2022 from Irwin Mitchell.

Charlotte qualified as a solicitor in 2017 and has developed a particular interest in director/shareholder disputes and matters involving contractual issues. She has a keen eye for detail and so enjoys working on cases which are technical.

Some of her key cases include:

  • Acting for defendant in respect of a breach of warranty claim relating to an SPA of the sale of 3 companies totalling £10million
  • Acting for minority shareholder in an unfair prejudice petition resulting in a partial demerger of the company and assets totalling circa £5million
  • Advising international retailer in respect of liability for terminating a £1 million contract relating to IT services
  • Acting for CEO of a company in respect of an alleged breach of a shareholders agreement
  • Acting for law firm against an insurance company who was refusing to pay out £500k of disbursements on an unsuccessful claim pursuant to an ATE policy
  • Defending civil proceedings brought against a company by the FCA in respect of a share pension scheme which resulted in the FCA discontinuing proceedings
  • Acting for a Defendant in defending a derivative action which resulted in the claim being struck out following failure to comply with an unless order

Charlotte has worked for a range of clients from start-ups to global FTSE 100 firms. She is experienced with all forms of alternative dispute resolution and works tirelessly on behalf of her clients to achieve a commercial outcome so that all parties can move on as quickly and cost effectively as possible.

Charlotte regularly delivers workshops and seminars for her clients on key contractual issues.

Outside of work, Charlotte has a keen interest in the Arts and is a non-executive director at the Civic (a theatre and Art gallery) in Barnsley. She also sits on the Council Representative panel at the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of  Commerce which allows her to keep close to the issues that businesses in the region are facing and allows her to be part of a focus group which remedies change. Charlotte is also married and a mother to two young children which keeps her busy and on her toes!
