Lorna Rigby

Lorna Rigby joined the employment team in March 2023 as a Senior Employment Solicitor. Lorna qualified in 2007 at international firm DWF and worked there for a further 8 years. During this time, she developed her experience in acting for larger clients including some household names. In 2015, Lorna moved to a boutique commercial practice in Manchester for to widen her experience in acting for smaller and medium size businesses. In 2018, Lorna moved to set up her own team in a regional practice and prior to joining Harper James was a Legal Director leading a team and also Head of the Employment Tribunal team.

Lorna has acted for a number of employees in successfully negotiating high level settlement agreements, but she primarily advises businesses in respect of their employee matters.The work she does spans the whole life cycle of the employment relationship from recruitment through to termination.  

Lorna has significant experience of drafting and advising on contracts of employment, changing terms and conditions of employment, disciplinary and performance management issues and employee exits. She also has in depth knowledge of advising businesses on redundancies and restructures and is adept at dealing with the employee issues when buying or selling a business. Lorna’s expertise also includes acting for businesses of all sizes in defending Employment Tribunal claims, including those involving sensitive and complex issue. She is a regular speaker at training events and has created and delivered bespoke training packages for clients. Lorna has experience of advising clients in the manufacturing, education, logistics and leisure and tourism sectors.

Outside of work Lorna enjoys spending time with her family and friends, travel and theatre.
