Samantha Owen joined Harper James Solicitors in January 2022, having previously worked at a large National Law firm for over 14 years.

Samantha qualified as a solicitor in 2009 and advises employers on all aspects of employment law, working closely with her clients to achieve practical and commercial outcomes. She provides strategic advice to businesses to support them with their HR needs. This includes advising on redundancies and reorganisations, disciplinary and grievance proceedings and dismissals. She is also experienced in working with clients to either review and amend or to draft bespoke employment contracts, policies and procedures.

Samantha has particular experience with contentious matters, and has successfully represented clients in a range of claims including complex discrimination, whistleblowing and dismissal claims. She is experienced in acting for companies defending high level employment disputes involving senior executives and/or shareholders.

She is also experienced in assisting companies with negotiating executive exits and advising on settlement terms. She is also experienced in drafting and advising upon restrictive covenants and pursuing employees where those restrictions are breached.

Samantha regularly provides training to clients on all manner of employment law topics.
